About Ms. Growsky

Welcome to the 2026 - 2027 school year! My name is Ms. Growsky, and I'm excited to be teaching here again at Fleming. Just a little about me…My background is working as a clerk for a judge in a civil courtroom for O.C. Superior Court for 15 years. During a conversation with my judge about education, he asked me about my passions in life and why I was working as a clerk. I told him I always wanted to be a teacher.  His response was, "Why aren't you?"  After some self-reflection, I realized I still want to be a teacher. I decided to return to school, follow my dream, and get my teaching credential. I attended Mount Saint Mary’s University (here in L.A.), graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and a minor in sociology. I continued at Mount Saint Mary’s to earn my teaching credential in Special Education as well as a Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in Special Education. I went a bit further and became a National Board-Certified Teacher in the area of Exceptional Needs.  Once in the program and in the classroom, it was apparent that teaching was, and still is, my passion.  My objective is to provide students with the necessary skills of collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity that will lead to the development of their growth mindset. This is my 17th year of teaching, and it just goes to show you that where there is a will, there is a way, and one is never too old to follow their dreams.
